About Us
Interport Group is a leading provider of Maritime Services in Bangladesh from P&I Correspondence to Port Agency, Contract Logistics, Marine Survey, Corporate Training and, Consultancy and we have been excelling in this sector for the past two decades. It was founded in 2001 by Mr. Mohiuddin Abdul Kadir (also known as Capt. MAK), a renowned maritime expert and leader with a vast experience of 40 (Forty) years, who has contributed significantly to the maritime and logistics domain in Bangladesh.
Interport Group started its journey by providing P&I and Claim Correspondent services to the P&I Clubs, Marine Underwriters, and Law Firms, and Port Agency services to the Ship Owners, Ship Management Companies & Charterers in Bangladesh. The two main seaports, Chattogram and Mongla were about to lose their historic reputation as safe and vibrant seaports due to various malpractices by some local service providers. Shipowners, operators, charterers, and their underwriters were beginning to feel insecure when their vessels were fixed for the Bangladeshi Ports as the necessary technical assistance and legal protection were often not available. Both the P&I Correspondent division and Port Agency division, manned by experienced and professional staff with a track record of integrity and efficiency have contributed to the reversal of the trend by successfully protecting their clients with their pro-active and innovative services whenever there was a situation that threatened the smooth operation and sailing of the vessels.
In the year 2006, the P&I Correspondent division and the Port Agency division were officially separated due to an increase in work volume, and currently, they operate as two different and independent companies with Interport Maritime Ltd acting as correspondent for P&I Clubs and underwriters and the Interport Ship Agents Ltd offers port agency services to ship owners, charterers and mainline operators. The separation of services with the increase of business in course of time has improved the quality of services and has also eliminated the possibility of any conflict of interest.
With time, Mr. Kadir, began to bring in the next generation to the family business and gave them management responsibilities. Under the strategic leadership of the Company’s Board & Management, Interport Group expanded its service offerings and diversified into other areas from Marine Survey to Freight Forwarding, Liner Shipping Agency, Contract and, Off-shore Logistics, Corporate Training, and Consultancy. Subsequently, Mr. Kadir, enrolled as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and, embarked on a career in Admiralty & Maritime Law, passing on the baton to his able successors in the family business. Today, Engr. Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah is serving the Group as Managing Director while Mrs. Razia Sultana and Mr. Taasin Ahmed Asadullah are serving as Chairperson and Director respectively.
